Overview
The location of a former Waveney District Council housing office, this site in the middle of Lowestoft had stood derelict for some years prior to the project to regenerate it by the construction of twenty flats for disabled people, compete with on-site warden and communal day room.
Working with two clients on the same site, Wellington purchased the site and took on a challenging design with a complex construction brief. Each unit of accommodation was to include adapted kitchens and bathrooms, and other features where the safety and wellbeing of the eventual residents were paramount.
The project saw a development of the Wellington team’s skills and understanding of this type of project, and the result is a landmark regeneration development which has had a massive visual impact on a prominent town centre site, as well as providing high quality adapted accommodation for local people.
