These 24 new affordable homes were built in the coastal Norfolk village of Bacton thanks to a proactive development proposal brought forward to Victory Housing Trust by Wellington. The land had already been identified in the North Norfolk District Council Local Development Framework as suitable for residential development, but things had stalled when the previous owners ceased trading.
Wellington negotiated the purchase for the site, and brought forward proposals for 24 new affordable homes – 19 for rent and five for low cost home ownership.
Using traditional Norfolk materials, including flint, the design of the new homes is sympathetic to the village’s existing architecture, and the development is well-designed with car parking behind the homes, leaving a safe open green space in the centre of the site for residents to use.
