Overview

Office supplies company Everything Office was seeking a statement building for its Lowestoft head office.  On a piece of land where local planners were not enthusiastic about building at all, a solution was found which satisfied both planners and client, by following the existing topography and creating a building with a sloping natural roof - a considerable challenge to deliver.

Wellington was engaged for the construction contract, delivering a building that was very technically advanced.  As well as the living roof, the building had a state-of-the-art security system, and a powerful back-up generator to guarantee business continuation to clients in the event of grid power failure.

The construction process required the sourcing and management by Wellington of various sub-contractors to deliver the specialist parts of the build, as well as a complex core construction.  The result was the landmark building which the client desired, a building which ten years later is still an iconic piece of Lowestoft’s built environment.
